So many people moved out of California in 2021 that UHAUL literally ran out of trucks!
According to UHAUL they simply ran out of inventory to meet customer demand for outbound equipment.

In 2021 the State of Tennessee came in at number three right on the tails of Texas and Florida.
The state of Tennessee is still seeing people moving here in mass from other states to escape their NON-FREEDOM states such as California, New York, and Illinois.
Texas edged Florida for the largest net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks in 2021;
California and Illinois saw the greatest net losses.
The Volunteer State posted the largest net gain of U-Haulยฎ trucks crossing its borders in 2020, making it the No. 1 U-Haul growth state for the first time.
Growth states are calculated by the net gain of one-way U-Haul trucks entering a state versus leaving that state in a calendar year.
Migration trends data is compiled from more than 2 million one-way U-Haul truck customer transactions that occur annually.
While U-Haul migration trends do not correlate directly to population or economic growth, the U-Haul Growth Index is an effective gauge of how well cities are both attracting and maintaining residents.
California remained the top state for out-migration, but its net loss of U-Haul trucks wasnโt as severe as in 2020. That can be partially attributed to the fact that U-Haul simply ran out of inventory to meet customer demand for outbound equipment.
